One problem worked through

Work 11 − 9 out loud as a demonstration. It gives 2. Children who hear 11 − 9 reasoned through once at the start of a session make noticeably fewer errors in the ten minutes that follow.

Getting the most out of 10 minutes a day

  2. If two days in a row come out under 10 minutes with everything correct, that is the signal to move up: either numbers bigger than 12 − 5 uses, or the next skill in the sequence.
